The Great Lakes Bay Manufacturers’ Association offers the opportunity to network with other manufacturers and potential customers. We provide education and support on manufacturing and business issues, and we work with local organizations to promote technical training opportunities for employees. We also serve as an advocate on local, state or federal legislative issues of concern to manufacturers. Opportunities for Peer Interaction GLBMA members cite the opportunity to network with other members as the organization’s most valuable offering. An extended networking period precedes each meeting to promote this interaction and help members make new contacts. Barbecues, boat trips and other social events are also held. GLBMA’s directory of members makes it easy to contact others who may have found a solution that could work for your company. And for those of you looking for was to build stronger relationships with your clientele, GLBMA sponsors a Golf Outing every June. Education and Training Management education and workforce development opportunities are another very valuable service offered to our members. Legislative and Environmental Support As a member of the Michigan Manufacturers Association, GLBMA can keep members informed of local, statewide and federal legislative and environmental issues that could impact their business. - Qualified speakers address timely issues and panels explore top level management concerns at our monthly dinner meetings. A networking period precedes each dinner to allow time to renew acquaintances and meet other members. The Annual Technology Scholarship Fundraiser golf outing is in June. - The GLBMA acts as a clearinghouse of training programs offered by other organizations. These are highlighted in the monthly newsletter. The Saginaw County Business and Education initiative is a partner with GLBRMA member companies to develop a pool of certified workers with job specific technical skills. GLBMA also acknowledges school to work efforts of local schools and organizations.
- Implementation and Informational Support
The GLBMA serves as an advisory to the Center for Manufacturing Improvement (CMI) at Saginaw Valley State University. CMI provides assistance to manufacturers seeking implementation support for strategic growth. The Manufacturers’ Line, the association’s monthly newsletter, highlights ongoing support activities and current manufacturing issues. The GLBMA supports the economic development activities of local development offices throughout the area. Monthly Meetings GLBMA generally meets on the third Thursday of the month (September - May) for a dinner meeting at Saginaw Valley State University. Membership Fees The corporate membership fee is $200. Luncheon Meeting fees are $20 for Members and $25 for Non-Members. Dinner Meeting fees are $25 for Members and $30 for Non-Members. Administrative Support from SVSU The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development (OCEPD) at SVSU has provided administrative support to the GLBRMA for over ten years. This includes membership and board meeting coordination; registration logistics; meeting room and food arrangements; newsletter editing and printing; financial record keeping; membership billings; board minutes; membership directory coordination and printing; and other miscellaneous services as requested.
